Happy 35 Denton Weekend, everyone! We are thrilled to start our festival in just a few short hours. We have a lot of fun activities planned for you in addition to over 250 bands invading 13 different venues here in downtown Denton. This event is rain or shine, and the show will go on! We’ve compiled a couple of tips and tricks to help you get through your 35 Denton weekend, whether you are a seasoned vet or a newcomer. We are excited to see you!
1- Pick up your wristbands, or buy them at our registration set ups. Friday we will be at the Greater Denton Arts Council from 3:00pm – 11:00pm, and we will return Saturday and Sunday starting at 11:00am in front out of outdoor stage area. All volunteers pick up your wristbands here, as well.
2- Y’all know that Charlie Hunter guy? He and Dallas Guill created a bunch of awesome activities for people of all ages to enjoy during the day! Check out our Daytime Programming schedule here – or grab a program at registration or at local venues and restaurants.
3- We are hosting a Print Fair on Saturday at the Greater Denton Arts Council between 10:00am – 5:00pm. Local artists featured include Brett Rees, Michelle Johnson, and Justin Strickland.There will be artwork for sale!
4- In case you missed it, Uber is in Denton! And, if you are a first time user they are giving you $20 worth of free ride vouchers! Uber cool, right?! Use code “35 Denton” to redeem your ride voucher.
5- Not interested in waiting in lines? Want free beer and the inside scoop on secret parties with delicious food served by a renowned chef? You need a Fast Track wristband! You can read more about it here and pick one up at PreKindle here! Limited quantities.
6- There is a Shamrock Social Run on Saturday March 14 at 11:00am. Join the Denton Area Running Club at Oak St Draft House for a 5 and 10k social run.
7- Our favorite Fry St. area bars have teamed up to bring you free bus services throughout the weekend, from Fry St. to downtown. They will run 6:00pm – 11:00pm on Friday, and run 11:00am – 11:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
8- There are bike racks located on the square and around the outdoor stage area on Hickory St.
9- You can always take the train! It will run on Friday & Saturday. But, one of your Denton buddies can take you home on Sunday, right? Use the trip planner provided by the DCTA to plan your route between Dallas and Denton.
10- The Attendance Tracker on our site that will help you keep track of what venues are at capacity. It is live now. Check it out here.
11- We know you want to know what is going, general questions and stuff are answered on over on our FAQ post also known as the WTFAQ!
12- Wear comfy shoes! We have more than 250 bands lined up in 13 different venues in 3 days! They are all within reasonable walking distance, too!
13- Pro-tip #1: Beer tents inside the outdoor area takes cards.
14- Not all of our vendors will be taking cards, though. For your convenience we’ve added an ATM at the Greater Denton Arts Council. There is also an ATM at the Well’s Fargo parking lot, right next door to our outdoor Main Stage.
15- Bring your camera! We want to see the festival from our attendees perspective! Be sure to tag your ‘grams with #MYDENTONTX to participate in our instagram contest, happening now through March 17th! The winner will receive the first pass to 35 Denton 2016 as well as an instant film package courtesy of Denton Camera Exchange! For more information, check out our facebook event!
16- Pro-tip #2: There will be beer for sale inside the GDAC.
18- Draw with Chalk! Check out our mural at the outdoor stage entrance and bring the kids! We will have chalk for you to play with here as well as at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios. Don’t miss Marathons and Unicorns, father and son duo Eric & Owen Nichelson playing at J&J’s Pizza on Saturday March 14 at 12:00pm.
19- Our friends at We Denton Do It produce weekly “What We Did” posts that feature images that were selected from the instagram hashtag #wddi. Dentonites submit hundreds of photos each week! Meet the Editor of We Denton Do It, Will Milne for a cup of joe at Shift Coffee (519 S. Locust) and join us for a walk around the square for our first annual InstaWalk.
20- You will have access the best food options all weekend long. In addition to the amazing food provided by our vendors, you’ll be within walking distance from some of our favorite local restaurants: J&J’s Pizza, LSA Burger, Service Industry, Roosters, Banter, West Oak Coffee Bar, Weinbergers Deli.
21- Stop by Cartwrights on the square to receive a 10% discount if you show ‘em you wristbands. Chicken fried steak for days, y’all. Days.
22- The good people over at the Instant Film Society are partnering with 35 Denton to bring you the Instant Film Society’s March PolaWalk. We’ll meet at noon at the Denton Camera Exchange (117 Piner St.) and start walking at 12:15pm. Stragglers and late-comers can regroup with us at Hypnotic Donuts at 2:00pm. The walk itself is free, but if you are going in to any venues to take polaroids of bands, you must have a wristband.
23- The Instant Film Society and 35 Denton are bringing you an Instant Photo Booth! We will be offering a limited run of twenty (20) 8×10 polaroids for a nominal fee of $35 each, cash only. Starts at 4:00pm at the Denton Camera Exchange (117 Piner St) and lasts until the film runs out!
24- No outside food or drinks will be allowed in the outdoor stage area, y’all!
25- We love your pets as much as you do, trust us – but please leave them at home this weekend. Or, if you want to grab a couple of brews with you pup before heading to shows, check out Oak St. Draft House or East Side with your fur babies.
26- While you are downtown, make sure you check out Recycled Books. Show them your wristband and get a sweet 15% off discount this weekend.
27- The Comfort Inn is still taking reservations, if anyone needs a hotel room! Call them at 940-320-5150 and tell them you’re going to 35 Denton!
28- Bet The House BBQ is offering a 10% discount if you show them your 35 Denton wristband! Did someone say brisket sammies? Yum!
29- If you’ve got some spare time this weekend, bring a blanket and go sit out on the courthouse lawn. Its a favorite pastime of many Dentonite’s (especially since you can totally get a bottle of wine from Wine2 and enjoy it on said blanket, on the square!)

33- We have port-a-potties in the outdoor stage area (and ‘regular’ bathrooms in addition to at all of the venues).
34- Everyone working to put this festival on are working as volunteers, dedicating their time to make sure this festival goes on as smoothly as possible. If you see a volunteer around, tell them hi! And maybe that you appreciate their work
