Don’t Miss This Shit is our new weekly installment of live music events happening in and around Denton. We’re proud to keep you up to date with acts from the festival and some of our local favorites as well. We want you to be connected to all of the best shows happening in our area, all of the time. Period.

TUESDAY JULY 21

Mulberry St. Cantina – PurlSnapShirts – 9:30 p.m.
Not sure what there is to say about this one, because if delicious margaritas and the self proclaimed “guitfiddle playin’ lyric singing” PurlSnapShirts aren’t compelling enough I’m not sure what would be.

Dan’s Silverleaf – Bubba Hernandez y los Supervatos – 8:00 p.m.
It’s pretty hard to beat a free show. It’s even harder to beat a free show with these folks at Dan’s. All we’re really trying to say is that we know where you should be this Tuesday night after you’re done stuffing your face with Tuesday tacos.

WEDNESDAY JULY 22

Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios – Sam Vicari, Konklin – 9:00 p.m.
Haven’t you been looking for an excuse to go to Rubber Gloves this summer? Here’s a good one.

THURSDAY JULY 23

Dan’s Silverleaf – Nic Armstrong and The Thieves, TomKat – 8:00 p.m.
Nic Armstrong is making the trek up I-35 from Austin to play at Dan’s this Thursday. Give them a warm welcome. Plus, TomKat is having a release party! Regardless of how you feel about cats (I love cats, myself), if you’re down with electro rock you should definitely make a personal appearance at this show.

RGRS – Heavy Glow (album release), Vinyl, Dead Flowers, Future Self – 9:00 p.m.
I would make an argument that psychedelic rock is great for summer, but really it’s great for any time. But you really can’t beat an album release with this lineup this summery Thursday.

Moonshine Shack – Neil Coburn, The Noids, Ultralight – 8:00 p.m.*
If you’ve been looking for a house show to go to this week, this is a decision that we would definitely commend you for making. (*we have no idea what time this starts, sorry)

Andy’s – Lily Taylor, Storming the Beaches with Logos in Hand – 8:00 p.m.
Lily Taylor may be experimental pop, but you don’t have to be a scientist to appreciate her music. That was a horrible joke and we’re really sorry, but this is a show you don’t want to miss. Looks like you have your hands full on Thursday.

FRIDAY JULY 24

Dan’s Silverleaf – Star Party, Bumping Uglies, Mr. Molly – 9:00 p.m.
You could spend $5.00 on 4.2 McDoubles (or less, after tax) or you could spend that money on this show. We’re not going to tell what to do with your money, but we can help you make an educated decision.

RGRS – Good Field, Claire Morales, Bosque Brown, Reservations – 9:00 p.m.
You may remember Claire Morales from this past 35 Denton! If you don’t, go see her so in the future you can remember her from Rubber Gloves this Friday.

Abbey Underground – Fun Button, GOLDENJOY, West and the Grooves, Class Action – 10:00 p.m.
Grab a yummy monte cristo upstairs and then head downstairs to see a great lineup this upcoming Thursday. Make sure you do both of these things to really optimize your experience.

Andys – I Love Math Records presents : Chase Ryan & the Grave, Friday Mean, Swandiver (This one is extra awesome) – 9:30 p.m.
If you want to convert a ticket price into McDonald’s ‘food’ again, this show only costs 3 small fries ($3). We love Swandiver, we love Friday Mean, we love Chase Ryan & the Grave, and at only $3 we’re sure you can afford some small fries afterwards too.

SATURDAY JULY 25

Dan’s Silverleaf – Juke Joint Prophets – 5:00 p.m.
The Juke Joint Prophets will tell you themselves that their show is a toe-tapping time to be had. If you want to do some toe tapping this Saturday, YOU KNOW WHERE TO BE.

RGRS – Shane Torres (comedian), Clint Werth – 9:00 p.m.
Laughing makes you younger, or at least look like you are having a good time. If youth and a general air of optimism are things you want for yourself, consider coming out to Rubber Gloves this Saturday.

SUNDAY JULY 26

Dan’s Silverleaf – Hares On the Mountain – 4:00 p.m.
Make your usual lazy Sunday a little less lazy with Hares On the Mountain! It’s a free show, so you can’t afford not to.

RGRS – Blaire Alise & The Bombshells (former 35 performer and all around badass), ABACABA, Lower Third – 9:00 p.m.
If you’ve been checking our Facebook (do that if you haven’t already!) you would see that former 35 performer and all around badass Blaire Alise is coming BACK to Denton! Don’t miss this set with ABACABA and Lower Third, or your summer will be at least 79.53252% worse. And don’t ask for a source on that number. Trust us.
