Wednesday, October 14

RGRS – Psychic Killers, Pleasure Principle, BVTHHOUSE – 9:00 p.m.
Get a little dark on Wednesday with this lineup of darkwave and drone. It’s kind of like being inside an actual horror movie, but with a happier ending. You only need a George Washington to get in, so come on out and get melancholy. It’ll be worth it.

Downtown Square – Back to the Future II Movie Night on the Square – 7:00 p.m.
In Back to the Future II, Marty McFly travels into the future to October 21st, 2015. To honor his arrival, come out to the Courthouse lawn with family and friends. Not only FREE, this is a great event for the whole family (even pets!).

Thursday, October 15

Downtown Square – Spiderweb Salon Presents Colin Winnette and Sarah Gerard – 6:30 p.m.
Our wonderful friends at Spiderweb Salon are hosting an evening of shared writing, performance, and music to welcome writers Colin and Sarah during their Two Dollar Radio book tour. Colin is a Denton native, and both writers are captivating and inspiring with their witty and humorous works. The whole event has an eight-person lineup and is sure to bring out some laughs and all the feels. It’s FREE, but bring a few bucks to help support them!

J&J’s Pizza – WOLFS, Danny Diamonds, Julia Lucille, Stormy Durant, Will E. Lee – 8:00 p.m.
Bring $5 and an empty stomach to this show. By now, you’re probably familiar with Danny Diamonds – he’s been playing Denton for years and is a 35 Denton veteran. Well, he’s joined on stage this evening by WOLF, Stormy Durant, Will E. Lee, and Austin’s Julia Lucille. It’s going to be a pretty mellow night, though Danny and WOLFS are definitely going to kick it up a notch. It’ll be a good night to fill up on pizza and tunes.

Harvest House – Raised Right Men – 8:00 p.m.
If you haven’t been to a Raised Right Men show, you’re missing out. You’ll almost always see two-steppin’, hootin’ and hollerin’, and definitely some drinkin’. Their country covers are on-point – if you love old country, you absolutely can’t miss this. Plus, it’s FREE.

Friday, October 16

Double Wide – Go!zilla, Animal Spirit, Mink Coats – 10:00 p.m.
Sure, this show isn’t in Denton, but we still thought it was worthy of a mention. Dallas is lucky to get Go!zilla, a psych punk group from Italy (Firenze, to be exact). They’ve shared the stage with some pretty incredible acts – Thee Oh Sees and The Sonics to name a couple – and tonight they’ll be playing with rock group Animal Spirit, from Fort Worth, and Denton’s own Mink Coats. $7 cover, but it’s worth it.

Saturday, October 17

300 E. McKinney Street – North Texas Hot Shots Concert – 12:00 p.m.
Check out this FREE outdoor event on Saturday for a super chill fun time. 35 Denton’s own Wally Campbell will be playing with The Holler Time, as well as Chase Ryan, Superkings, and The Rhythm and Beards… with Seryn headlining! Bring the family and some chairs and feast on food truck grub – The Bellatrino Pizza Truck and Coochie BBQ will be there. If you get there at noon, register for the silent auction and all the proceeds will go to Michael’s Memories and The Russ Martin Show Listeners’ Foundation.

Macaroni Island – Eat Avery’s Bones 10 Year Anniversary – 9:00 p.m.
To celebrate a full decade together, Eat Avery’s Bones is inviting Bukkake Moms, Seres, and Trouble Catt – and you! – to come out and party. If you’ve ever seen any of these bands live, you’ll know how much of a good time this is gonna be. Best of all, it’s FREE! Macaroni Island: 2311 Houston Pl. (between Scripture and Oak).

Hailey’s Club – LoveSick Mary Presents: Rockers for Knockers Cancer Benefit – 9:00 p.m.
Is it hot in here, or is it just us? If there’s one thing we like more than rocking out, it’s rocking out to burlesque ladies. Of course, we love when it’s for a good cause, too. Tonight’s very long lineup of hotties comes with a $10 cover, all of which goes to the American Cancer Society. It’s gonna be a saucy night, bring your drool rag.

The Jagoe House – Juniper and Gin Launch Party – 7:00 p.m.
Art. Jewelry. Clothing. Crafts. Music. It’s a full night of arts at The Jagoe House (across the street from Mr. Chopsticks). Juniper and Gin are officially launching their jewelry shop this weekend with several other local artists and crafters. Come out and browse the goods while Dome Dwellers, Animal Spirit, and Sons of Sol jam out.

Lucky Lou’s – Lucky Lou’s 19th Birthday – 5:00 p.m.
For almost two decades, Lou’s has served up cold beverages to Denton patrons. It’s seen the metamorphosis of Fry St., it’s grown a great new patio, and the beer wall is one of the most impressive on the block. To celebrate, they’ll have reduced drink prices, a special anniversary t-shirt, and a signature pint glass for sale. Plus, they’ll have free food provided, so you don’t have to worry about leaving! From all of us at 35 Denton, Happy Birthday, Lucky Lou’s!

Dan’s Silverleaf – Kody Jackson Album Release Party – 8:00 p.m.
You guys want a FREE show tonight? Come out to Dan’s to celebrate Kody Jackson’s album release with Chris Welch, Hard Luck Guys, and Danny Diamonds. We’re super stoked about Kody’s new album – we’ve been anticipating it for a while now. His up-tempo Americana always sets up for a really fun set. Bring your cheapskate friends, load up on Lone Stars, and enjoy some great music.
