Monday November 23

RGRS–Edhochuli, Ex-Breathers, Gnarwhal, No Gods, Orcanaut– 9 p.m.

What a special Monday for RGRS. They’ve got a lineup that spans across the U.S. From Edhochuli, a rock group from Pittsburgh, to Ex-Breathers from Florida. It’s a rock show lineup not meant for the soft-hearted. $5 cover and, trust us, they’ll make it worth it.

Tuesday November 24

RGRS–Tatsuya Nakatani and Michel Doneda Duo–9 p.m.

Nakatani is an improvisational percussionist, originally from Osaka, who comes to us from Pennsylvania. Doneda is a renowned alto-saxophonist, most-noted for his skill also as an improvisational performer. This is a unique show for RGRS and we’re excited to see something a little different here. Three other talented acts will be starting, so be sure to get there on time. $5 cover.

Wednesday November 25

Dan’s Silverleaf–11th Annual Thanksgiving Eve Show–8 p.m.

Stop worrying about the turkey. Stop worrying about visiting family. Just come out to Dan’s for some pre-Thanksgiving partying and relieve yourself of the stress. There’ll be good tunes, a wide booze selection, and plenty of fun. The Hokamp Phelps Project headlines. $5 cover.

RGRS–Pavel Chekov, The Noids–9 p.m.

Time to rock out before you fill up on turkey and stuffing. For only one dollar, you get the craziest rock you’ll find all night. Part experimental, part super fun rock. With such a small cover, you can load up on PBRs for a super rock star night.

Thursday November 26

Downtown Denton–Inaugural Point Bank Downtown Denton Turkey Trot–9 a.m.

Looking to burn some pre-Thanksgiving pounds? If you don’t want to drive all the way down to Dallas for the Turkey Trot, stay here and walk with fellow locals. Sign up at in order to get in and make sure to get there on time to see all the festivities.

RGRS–Are You Sick Of Your Family Yet?–10 p.m.

It’s a Thanksgiving potluck miracle! Bring your leftovers — and some dollars for booze — and feast with the people you really want to hang out with. This is a tradition Rubber Gloves has shared for a few years now and it’s a good time with Denton family, always. And guess what? It’s FREE.

Hickory & Fry–1st Annual Misfits Thanksgiving–5 p.m.

If you’re missing out on the Big Feast because of work or distance, head over to Hickory & Fry for an all-you-eat Thanksgiving buffet. It’s only $15 and includes a draft beer, which we think is a pretty good deal. Plus, who wouldn’t want to share the day of giving thanks with other Dentonites?!

Friday November 27

Andy’s Bar–Ararat, Cleanup, Biscuit Head, Sagacious Zoo–8:30 p.m.

Fuck Black Friday. Take out your shopping aggression at Andy’s tonight with this blended show of rock, metal and fusion. Joining us is Ararat, an Armenian jazz-fusion band that’s been hitting stages all over the world for years. The Fort Worth math-rock group Cleanup will be headlining. $7 at the door.

Velo Republic–Work Off That Turkey Ride–1 p.m.

Time to burn off some of that Thanksgiving regret with a good ole bike ride. Get rid of the turkey bloat while you ride with some of your favorite cycling locals on the Denton Katy Trail. Be sure to stay hydrated and warm, it’s gonna be chilly.

Saturday November 28

The DIME Store–Small Business Saturday–10 p.m.

Small business is the backbone of our great little town. Come out and support local makers with hot cocoa, coffee and doughnuts. Plus, for purchases over $30 you get a free vintage keychain and over $75 gets you a free t-shirt!

More Fun Comics and Games–Local Comic Shop Day–10 p.m.

If you’ve got comic nerds on your Christmas list, here’s your chance to scratch them off. While you’re strolling about the square on Saturday morning, pop on in to the comic book store and pick up some comic books. They’ll have some limited edition features and, from what we’ve heard, a few surprises up their sleeves. We love a good surprise.

Dan’s Silverleaf–Denton Rock Lottery 14–10 a.m.

If you haven’t experienced the awesomeness that is Rock Lottery, make sure you don’t miss out this time. It’s pretty simple: 25 musician’s names go into a hat, then they pull to form five bands. It’s an insanely good time from start to finish, so be sure to catch it as early as you can. You get into the show for $15, but for $5 more you get to eat a delicious breakfast by the famous Chef Pam. Proceeds for Rock Lottery will go to CASA of Denton County.

Hailey’s Club–AV The Great’s Best Southern Rapper Awards–10 p.m.

You may have read about it on Facebook — or in the papers if that’s how you roll — Hailey’s Club is closing at the end of this year. This show is the last one before it closes it’s doors (don’t worry, they have plans for the space in the near future), so you should make an appearance. It’s a formal affair, like we have a lot of those here, so come donning your slickest threads.

Sunday November 29

Audacity Brew House–Backbends, Beads, Brews–10 a.m.

A little shopping hangover? Chill out at Audacity with Green Man Studios for booze and handmade goods. They’ll be out with their soaps, candles, and other items, great as little gifts for just about anyone. Audacity will be providing breakfast, too, so come hungry.
