Andy’s Bar – Gitmo Music Presents: Open Mic Night at Andy’s – 9 p.m. to Midnight Come witness the glory that is Open Mic Night at Andy’s hosted by Mz Bossy & La. DJ Ju$t Trill will be spinning between acts. 21 and up, no cover. Sign ups start at 9 p.m. and music begins at 10. Dan’s Silver Leaf – State Representative 64th District debate featuring Rick Hagen, Dr. Lynn Stucky and Read King – 7 p.m. This President’s Day join the candidates running to fill the Texas State House of Representatives seat vacated by Myra Crownover at the 64th district debate, moderated by Kevin Roden. Listen as the candidates share their ideas and strength of vision on who will best support the folks of District 64 at the House.

RGRS – Hotel Broslin Presents: Frankenhooker – 9 p.m. Wanna watch a super awesomely-terribly-wonderful-goremance movie with me? I knew you’d say YES! Join the folks of Hotel Broslin and RGRS for a VHS/DVD/Record Swap and viewing of one of this girl’s all time favorite B-Horror flicks, Frankenhooker. Entry is Free. Doors open at 9 and the movie starts at 10. All Across Denton – 9th Annual Thin Line Festival – 2.17.16 through 2.21.16 Thin Line is a film, music, and photography festival held over five days in Denton. Thin Line delivers the highest quality documentaries, a diverse gallery of photographers and their work, as well as a huge mix of world-class musicians making up the soundtrack to the festival. Mulberry Street Cantina – Friends Trivia Night – 8 p.m. You asked for it and Mulberry Cantina delivered! Test your memories of Monica, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Joey, and Phoebe at Friend’s Trivia Night. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Teams can have from one to 12 members so grab your Friends, your Lobster, and your pet Monkey (but not really because of health codes and all). We’ll see you there you precious little Smelly Cats! Denton County Office of History and Culture – Lecture: Rose Taylor Presents “African-American Spirituals” – 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Looking for something with substance to do on your lunch break this week? Head to the Denton Office of History and Culture for their continuing series honoring Black History Month. This week Rose Taylor, a Dallas native studying music at TWU, presents a lecture on African-American Spirituals and will perform a few songs as well in the Commissioner’s Courtroom on the 2nd floor at the Courthouse on the Square. Audacity Brew House – Game Night 2.0 – 7 p.m. Karma Yoga Denton is hosting a game night. Grab a craft beer and throw some dice with Omies of Karma Yoga. Stretchy pants are not required for game night but if real pants aren’t your jam that day then bring your stretchy pants and let’s play! The DIME Store – Beginning Hand Lettering – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Learn to hand letter with Wildflower Art Studio for their first 3rd Friday Workshops at DIME. Class participants will learn different vintage and modern hand lettering techniques. Bring your favorite phrase or choose from a list of their favs. Cost is $55 and beginners are always welcome.

RGRS – Denton Zine Fest – 9 p.m. Inclusive event supporting the work of local DIY zinemakers, comic artists, printmakers, small underground media and press. Check event link for featured tablers. LGBTQ safe space. Oppression or negative vibes not welcome. $5 cover at the door. House of Rot (ask a homie) – Playlists / Better Now / New Science Projects / Mimisiku @House of Rot – 8 p.m. Local house party featuring playlists, Better Now, New Science Projects, and Mimisiku. Carpool, ride your bike or take a walk to leave the driveway clear for the musicians and their gear. BYOB. No drugs or fights. Come in through the backyard and be courteous to the neighbors, ya’ animals.

Mulberry Street Cantina – 3rd Annual Margarita Contest – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Who doesn’t love a Sunday Funday, am I right?! Well you’re in luck because Mulberry Street Cantina is hosting the 3rd Annual Margarita Contest and we’re all invited! There will be 18 to 20 contestants and for just $10 you can sample all of the margaritas they’ve brought with them. Once you’ve sampled the tasty wares of the competition vote for your favorites. So I get to embibe and judge people? It’s like a mean girls fantasy come true!
